I would say the most interesting thing that has ever happened to me is loving a girl and not telling her. I’ve been in love with her since Junior Secondary School One (J.S.S.1) but I couldn’t tell her because of my upbringing. I was just 9 years old when it started and I thought it was a sin to love a girl, so I just lived with it. I grew up in an estate in Abeokuta, which is in Ogunstate, Nigeria. I would go from home to school, home to church, then home again. I was always indoors. So I would say that I don’t relate well with people. I was also too young to know what is called love then, it seemed like just an attraction.
But I can’t stop loving her till now, she is still one of the best things that has ever happened to me. If I was to describe her, I wouldn’t be able to just pinpoint one thing I love about her. I just love her for who she is. There is just a connection there and I love everything about her. We went to school together during my junior school days, but now we are staying in different locations so we do not get to see each other as much.
I’ve never done anything about it because I’ve just never felt that it’s the right time. I don’t worry that someone else will come while I’m not acting, because I believe what is meant to be, will be. If she was reading this, I would want to say to her:
“How I feel about you, what I love in you, it would take me years to compose what to say…and it’s going to take eternity for us to play out our love to the fullest.
Your love is still very unique.
Your smile is my laughter.
In summary, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
