On 26th May 2015, Nairobi became the second city in Africa to have a Snapchat story.
Rather than a cheerful welcome from the world outside Africa, this was met with reactions ranging from midly annoying to downright NASTY. I must say I was quite surprised, you would think people would be happy to be educated about Africa not being a technology-deficit jungle. But alot of foreigners were simply all about how they do not care what is happening in Nairobi or how they want their $2 a month back if we have iPhones and so forth.
As you know, these issues are elaborately addressed in the book, but we will feature some of these comments in upcoming memes over the next few posts. For now, I'd just like to introduce you to a little of Nairobi you won't see in the news.
WIndsor Golf Hotel and Country Club, Nairobi, with an aerial view that extends all the way up to the city in the background. Windsor is located in one of Nairobi's affluent suburbs, and was featured in the Netflix series Sense 8.
Thus far this post is VERY image heavy, so we shall leave it at that.
We will definitely be sharing more of the good parts of Nairobi, and Africa in general over the course of this journey we are taking together. We endeavour to show you Africa through our eyes.
